Aaron Parks

Pianist and composer Aaron Parks likes to push the boundaries of jazz and flirt with indie rock, hip hop and electronics. His band Little Big makes music in a cinematic, melodic style that finds its origins in the album Invisible Cinema (2008), with modern rhythms and compelling stories. He creates his own world in which jazz, R&B, indie pop and alt-country come together.

After seven years, Parks returns to LantarenVenster with Little Big III, the band’s third studio album on Blue Note Records. Together with guitarist Greg Tuohey, bassist David Ginyard Jr. and drummer Jongkuk Kim, Parks takes his expressive, dynamic interplay to a new level. The album is powerful and intimate at the same time—a balance between refinement and raw emotion. “This album feels alive and flexible,” says Parks, “but also focused and stripped down to its essence.”
