VHVR #8 met The Handover, Jiyun Park & Reinier van Houdt/Andrew Liles

First solo VHVR of the year where Reinier van Houdt and Andrew Liles will follow up their Worm Studio residency with a live concert, only with very fresh material, and the perfectly hybrid trio The Handover -Aly Eissa - Oud, Ayman Asfour - violin and Jonas Cambien - electronics, a Norwegian/Egyptian trio with acclaimed release on Sublime Frequencies- - shall suprise us with... no let that be a surprise.... And Jiyun Park has visited us years ago, time to check on what she's up to now with her self-made and invented instrument.

is a sound artist and composer currently based in Cologne, Germany. Jiyun Park's upcoming March tour 'wandering' features a sound performance with her self-built instrument.
This experimental instrument, blending strings and metallic elements, unleashes overtones, harmonics, and feedback in a symphony of uncontrolled beauty. Explore a realm where sound colors intermingle, creating a mesmerizing cacophony that defies traditional harmony. What it is!
1. The Handover is a trio consisting of: Aly Eissa, Ayman Asfour and Jonas Cambien
2. Influences of Arabic Classical, rural Egyptian music, psychedelic, Krautrock and free improvisation
3. Perhaps this should have been happening in Egyptian music 50 years ago.
4. Limited-Edition vinyl LP includes a two-sided insert with additional photos, liner notes and bios of the musicians.
5. Andrew Nasser Ishak Kamel will replace Ayman Asfour because of health reasons

ANDREW LILES is one of the most prolific and striking figures working in experimental and outsider music. He has taken the idea of 'the studio as a musical instrument' to the extreme. His work is elusive, a surreal journey through dreamstates, childhood memories, perverse juxtapositions and perverted narratives. The combination of Liles’ highly personal imagination and a work ethic bordering on the monastic produces unique music. Next to his solo work he is known for his work with Nurse With Wound, Current 93, Faust and many others.

REINIER VAN HOUDT is a pianist/multi-instrumentalist operating outside- and sometimes inside musical institutions. His work comes from a fascination for the imagination already contained in matter: patterns or forms in stones, voices in static or overtones in sound: striking contingencies in materials brought together by an existential act like reading, writing, listening. Next to his solo works he is known as a prolific performer that has worked with artists like Robert Ashley, Annea Lockwood, Luc Ferrari, Francisco López, Maria de Alvear, Christian Marclay etc
